This song has been out for about 4 months now but it was only when the video was released that I actually knew about it and the band itself. It’s not the usual genre of music I review for but I instantly liked the song and over the past year or so, we’ve been reviewing and discovering new genres of music to bring you an outsiders perspective on other genres of music aside from Indie/Alternative.

The track could act as a modern-day feminism war anthem with front-woman, Raphaelle Standell-Preston  at the front line. The track seemingly sees Raphaelle unleashing her frustration with certain views on women whilst choosing some excellent/original dance moves in a variety of locations to perform. From what I can understand from the song, the message is a relatively simple one; don’t be a dickhead to women. Just because she’s in a miniskirt and enjoys certain things with men, it doesn’t give you the right to call her names or “slut-shame” I believe it can be called when men seem to get away with and become a “player” or “lad”.

“I am not a man hater, I enjoy them like cake. But in my position; I’m the slut, I’m the bitch, I’m the whore, The one you hate. And there’s a name for this kind of man, a soft one at that; Womanizer, Casanova, Lothario. For us, it’s just a stamp to the head. For them another notch in the bed.”

The build up of the song is a gradual one but eventually finds itself providing a fantastic dance tune with meaning and values behind it. I certainly can’t wait to see what’s next from this Canadian trio.
