Folk genius turned contemporary comedy actor Johnny Flynn has announced the release of his latest studio album ‘Sillion’ to be released in late March, and beforehand has treated us all to brand new single, ‘Raising the Dead’. It’s a short and perfect teaser track, but featuring a darker tone and steady beat perhaps giving us a small insight into what the album may sound like. Within the song, a full band can be heard as well as backing singers on the chorus and despite the morose theme of this track, we are aware of his diversity and ability to swap from mood to mood throughout his records.
Johnny Flynn has been a big name in the singer songwriter/folk genre since his debut record ‘A Larum’ in 2008 and was part of a large circle of acts that made their names known around the same time, including Laura Marling, Noah & The Whale and Mumford & Sons. However since then, as well as producing consistently great music, you’ll have seen Flynn playing the lead role, Dylan, in E4/Netflix comedy Lovesick, or as it was previously known, Scrotal Recall.
But as mentioned, his announcement of an upcoming album release is proof that the man is multi talented and multi focused, and it’ll certainly be a record to keep an eye out for as if it’s anything like his previous work, it’ll be a wonderful asset to 2017’s musical history.
