After a 7 year absence, Jamiroquai have shared their comeback track  ‘Automaton’ along with an accompanying music directed by Arcade Fire & Bjork collaborator, Charlie Lightening.

Whilst the band have been teasing their comeback recently, I have to admit; I couldn’t have given less of a shit if I tried. Which makes the fact that I like this comeback track even better. It’s synth-heavy and sounds like something Daft Punk would produce. The beat gets in your head and it’s just “foot-tappingly” good. As aforementioned, this is the band’s first track in 7 years following their 2010 album Rock Dust Light Star.

The track serves as the title track for their forthcoming album Automaton out 31st March.

Speaking about the album; frontman Jay Kay said:

“The inspiration for ‘Automaton’ is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings,”

I for one can’t wait to hear the album when it’s released and I’m still shocked that I like this track as much as I do. Welcome back Jamiroquai! It turns out you’ve been missed!
