Today, the 22nd of April 2017, marks an annual tradition and one to be celebrated if you’re a fan of music. A fan of music? Seems a strange concept. It’s a lot like being a fan of oxygen or happiness. Music is our gateway to the soul and a portal to your passions and inner most thoughts and feelings. It can express or alter your mood and become a soundtrack to the way you perceive and endeavour to go about life…. a little deep for a Saturday? I agree.
It’s also a special occasion as this marks ten years of Record store day, starting back in 2007 and gaining momentum and expanding its following ever since. So, with all of that in mind, it’s only right that we celebrate the idea and go forth to dig, browse and discover music in all its forms, from old Motown records, to soul classics. From original presses to brand new 45’s just released. Even a slew of exclusive Record store day commemorative pieces have been released especially for today and will be flying off of shelves all around the country. So don’t miss out, enjoy music, go and find something you’ve never heard, or go and find your favourite album and buy it physically rather than relying on that download from iTunes which will probably disappear when your laptop breaks due to viruses it got from undisclosed sites. I’d say now is your chance, but they’ll all be there tomorrow, it’s just why not start now… so GO!
Happy Record store day 2017!
